We are aware that many individuals leaving care may not have the life skills to sustain them into adulthood. We provide a service to care leavers that will give them the opportunity to gain necessary skills and knowledge so that they are confident to live a less dependent way of living and help them recognise and reach their potential. This transitional support from youth servicers to adult services has been identified as a pivotal time in a care leaver’s life. For many, leaving care without any support and guidance often results in failure to achieve ones goals and they can remain unprepared and de-skilled.
Our service is to promote independence, therefore we do not endeavour to do tasks for individuals but to teach and recognise responsibilities. This in itself increases confidence and self-esteem to enable them to move forward with their lives.
